OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City women's basketball team got outrebounded by a 57-37 margin on Thursday night suffering a 27 point loss against cross-town rival Mid-America Christian in the last road game of the season.
Oklahoma City (6-21, 5-16) got off to a 9-2 start early in the first quarter before the Evangels made their way back to a 20-17 lead at the of the first 10 minutes.
Jazmin Adams of the Stars played a big role in keeping the game tight by grabbing seven boards and scoring four points as every starter for OCU was able to put at least one basket home.
The Stars began to struggle through the second quarter going without a point for the first 6:02 of the period and didn't see their first field goal until the 2:47 mark as
Analynn Bohner sank a three-pointer from the left corner.
MId-America Christian (21-6, 15-6) was able to create the separation by going on a 15-0 run while outscoring the Stars 25-11 and took a 45-28 lead into the break.
The Evangels came out of the locker room on the attack using an 8-0 run to extend the lead. Once again, the lid was on the rim for OCU seeing another scoring drought of five minutes and 22 seconds before
Ray Osborn swished a jumper for her third field goal of the evening.
In the fourth, Oklahoma City was only able to cut the deficit to 21 points on another layup from Adams before MACU finished the final 1:30 on a 9-3 scoring run to beat the Stars 82-55 on Thursday evening.
Amaya Gordon and
Ray Osborn split for the team high of 13 points while Gordon hauled in seven rebounds and Osborn tallied five assists.
Jazmin Adams notched her fourth double-double of the season as the freshman scored 10 points to go along with 12 rebounds on 4-for-9 shooting from the field.
Analynn Bohner sank two of the three made shots from range while
Hannah Grundy got in on the mix with one late in the fourth quarter.
MACU dominated on the glass outrebounding the Stars by a 57-37 margin.
The two schools split the season series after OCU took the first game inside Abe Lemons Arena back on Jan. 11 where it beat the Evangels 75-69.
Oklahoma City will come back home for the season finale on Senior Day as the Stars host Southwestern Christian tipping off at 2 PM.
