OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Volleyball team took care of business in the SAC Quarterfinal Round earning a three-set win against Mid-America Christian.

THE RUNDOWN
Set 1
OCU began the night by opening with a 4-2 lead after
Michela De Stefano placed down a pair of kills. MACU jumped ahead by scoring four in a row but saw its last lead before OCU tied it back up 10-10. Oklahoma City used a 7-2 run with the help of
Ruby Kelley adding two kills and an ace to go up by four. The Evangels cut the deficit to one but that was close as they could get as the Stars ran away with it by scoring seven straight points to close out the first set.
Set 2
MACU got off to a strong start leading 5-1 to open the second set. Oklahoma City made its way back after Kelley and
Grace Smallwood joined together for back-to-back kills that bolstered the Stars to tying back up at 13-13. After falling back down by a point, the switch flipped for OCU as the Stars rattled off the next seven points to start a 12-2 run to close out the game as Oklahoma City swatted away two MACU attacks while Smallwood caught fire with three kills during the run helping her team to a 25-16 set victory.Â
Set 3
Mid-America Christian once again opened with a 5-1 lead before seeing its biggest advantage of 11-6. Oklahoma City came storming back scoring the next five consecutive points as
Bailey Lowder got the Stars going with one of her six kills on the night. OCU held a 19-18 lead before MACU took back control with four in a row as Casady McKinney served up back-to-back aces going in front 22-18. The Stars were resilient once again as Lowder and Kelley collected two kills each helping put together a 6-1 run that shut things down at 25-23.Â
Game Notes
- Oklahoma City defeated Mid-America Christian for the first time since Oct. 28, 2021.Â
- The fifth-seeded Stars advance to the SAC Semifinals for the second straight season where they will face the one-seeded Nelson Lions for the second season in a row in the Semifinal round.Â
- Grace Smallwood delivered 10 kills and seven digs posting double-digit kills for the eighth time this season. Smallwood showcased her defensive ability by adding a season-high four blocks, surpassing her previous total of three set back on Friday against Texas Wesleyan.Â
- Ruby Kelley tied Smallwood with the game-high 10 kills while going off for six blocks.
- Joeci Hunt stamped the game-high in digs with 16 being the ninth time this season Hunt has reached double-digit digs.Â
