Stars ride Roberts big night in 3-1 win over Wayland Baptist

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Stars' women's soccer team used a late first round surge of goals to collect a win against in-conference foe Wayland Baptist University (Texas). OCU moves to 7-3-1 overall with a 3-0-1 Sooner Athletic Conference record in 2024.

Goals
'37 – Amelia Horsford; Assisted by Saizlee Carlton

'44 – Reese Roberts; Assisted by Saizlee Carlton

'46 – Abby Russell; Assisted by Reese Roberts

How it Happened

The Pioneers grinded their way to a 1-0 lead in the first half after Camila Zavala scored her first goal of the season for WBU at the 30-minute mark. There were 12 first half shots taken by the OCU offense in the first half. However, none of those shots landed in the net until the 37th minute on a goal scored by Amelia Horsford who had substituted in just a few minutes prior. Then, with 15 seconds left in the first half, Reese Roberts scored on a goal assisted by Saizlee Carlton. Abby Russell and the Stars' offense scored very early in the second half when Reese Roberts set up a Russell goal right out of halftime. Three goals would be enough to secure the victory for OCU.
