About the Stars  

  • Oklahoma City comes into Saturday's game with a 3-9 record and a 1-5 start to conference play. 
  • The Stars are still searching for their first road win of the season as OCU comes off a nine-point loss to SAGU on Thursday night.  
  • OCU is led by sophomore Avery Jackson who missed Thursday's game due to an ankle injury but comes off a phenomenal performance against Bethel College after tying a career-high with 32 points.  
  • Yorgio Golesis has been fantastic throughout the first half of his freshman campaign as Golesis set a new career-high with 23 points on Thursday night against SAGU while also tacking on seven assists and seven rebounds without coming off the floor all night.  
  • Brandon Jackson rounds out the double-figure scorers for the Stars averaging 15.3 PPG and enters as the SAC's top free throw shooter at 84.9%.  
  • Oklahoma City is still trying to find its footing shooting the basketball as the Stars rank last in the conference in field goal percentage and three-point percentage.  
  • Despite its shooting woes, OCU ranks second in the SAC in team free-throw percentage while Brandon Jackson and Avery Jackson hold the top two spots among the free-throw leaderboard in the Sooner Athletic Conference.  

About the Trailblazers 

  • UNT-Dallas enters Saturday with a 2-7 overall record while getting off to a 1-5 start in conference play.  
  • The Trailblazers notched their two victories against Dallas Christian in a 100-73 blowout win on Oct. 28 and earned its second win over Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Texas Wesleyan 66-51 on Nov. 30. 
  • UNT-Dallas will be looking to snap out of a five-game losing streak after coming up short to John Brown on Thursday night in a one-point overtime defeat to the Golden Eagles.  
  • Vernon Johnson leads the way for the Trailblazers with 14.2 PPG and 7.8 RPG both being the team lead for each category.  
  • Johnson comes off a 16-point night on Thursday while playing all 40 minutes of action. Johnson shot 6-11 from the field while hauling in a team-high nine rebounds and had seven steals. 
  • Tariq Aman follows Johnson with 13.0 PPG and 40 minutes in Thursday's contest. Aman scored 15 points while going 6-13 from the field to go along with three rebounds and three assists. 
  • UNT-Dallas has struggled when it comes to scoring at a high clip so far this season while the Trailblazers average 68.3 PPG putting them 11th out of 12 in the SAC. 

Series History   

  • Saturday's game will be the fifth time two schools have met in the series history as Oklahoma City comes in with a 3-1 record over the Trailblazers.  
  • OCU won the previous meeting last year on Feb. 6 as the Stars held UNT-Dallas to just 23 points in the second half behind a 19-point effort by Brandon Jackson
