OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Stars men's basketball looks to bounce back at home against Texas Wesleyan after falling USAO with a chance to tie at the buzzer on Thursday night.

About the Stars     

  • After a big bounce-back win on Saturday against Southwestern Christian, Oklahoma City fell in the final moments of Thursday's game to USAO with a look that could have sent the game into overtime. 
  • The Stars come in 4-12 overall while holding a 2-8 record in SAC play.  
  • Avery Jackson leads OCU with 16.9 PPG while knocking down a season-best five threes against Southwestern Christian before following it up with an 18-point outing against Science & Arts. 
  • Brandon Jackson comes in right behind Avery with 16.9 PPG and has reached double figures in his last four games after scoring 13 points against USAO while competing in all 40 minutes of action.  
  • Freshman point guard Yorgio Golesis broke into the starting lineup in the early part of the season and has provided a ton of impact for the Stars. Golesis comes in as the Stars third-leading scorer with 10.6 PPG after putting up a game-high 22 points against the Drovers on Thursday night.  
  • Clayton Jewell and James Cloud join Golesis as two other freshmen to help impact the Stars as Jewell leads Oklahoma City in rebounding with 6.7 per game while putting up a season-high of 14 while hauling in 11 boards for his second double-double of the season.  
  • Cloud comes off a seven-point night against USAO as the freshman knocked down two threes from the corner while Cloud produced a season-high six rebounds.  
  • Junior forward Parker Jones delivered one of his best games of the season on Saturday against SCU as Jones dropped 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists in 34 minutes of action. Jones  
  • The Stars come in ranked last in the conference in field goal and three-point percentage, however, despite its shooting woes OCU ranks second among SAC teams in free throw percentage at 74.4%.  

About the Rams 

  • Texas Wesleyan comes in with an identical record to Oklahoma City at 4-12 overall and 2-8 in conference play.  
  • The Rams come off a heartbreaking defeat in overtime to John Brown 72-69 on Thursday night.  
  • Texas Wesleyan is in desperate need of a win as the Rams are winless on the road and have dropped their last four matchups with three of the four being by single-digit margins.  
  • Junior guard Adetokunbo Bakare leads the Rams with a team-high 16.8 PPG along with 5.5 RPG. Bakare looks to stay hot after scoring 20-plus points in the last three games while coming off a season-high 27 points on Thursday night. 
  • Standing at 6'10 Kris Lafayette provides the Rams with 12.7 PPG, being the only other Ram to average double-figures. Lafayette leads Wesleyan with 7.8 RPG and saw a career day come against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Jan. 4 with 31 points on 12-16 shooting.  
  • Texas Wesleyan has seen its struggles scoring the rock as the Rams rank 11th in the conference in points per game with 68.2.  
  • Despite holding the fourth-best three-point percentage in the SAC, Texas Wesleyan is a team that doesn't shoot much from beyond the arc as the Rams sit last in the conference in three-pointers made by averaging only 5.8 makes per game. 

Series History      

  • Oklahoma City holds a 12-9 record over Texas Wesleyan since the series began back in 2009. 
  • In the previous meeting which came back on Feb. 23, 2023, in the Sooner Athletic Conference Quarterfinal round the Stars earned a 90-80 victory as Avery Jackson led the way with 25 points and eight rebounds while seeing 40 minutes of action.
