First Half

The OCU men's soccer team kicked off for the first time in 2023 and it only took six minutes into the contest for the Stars to get on the scoreboard. Junior newcomer David Imbert netted the first goal of his OCU career and gave the Stars a 1-0 lead. Imbert struck again in the 25th minute of play with another goal to extend the OCU lead out to 2-0. The OCU offense stayed red hot with another goal coming towards the end of the first half as Jovanny Nsonga notched his first goal in an OCU uniform stretching the lead out even more at 3-0 heading into the half.

Second Half

After a three-goal first half, the Stars were able to put it on cruise control in the final 45 of play. Oklahoma City had one more goal left in them nearing the midway point of the contest as no one other than Imbert completed the hat trick by cashing in his third goal of the evening to help the Stars run away with a 4-0 victory on Monday night.

Games Notes

  • Oklahoma City took 19 shots with seven coming on goal while Bethany took eight shots with only two that came on goal.
  • David Imbert had quite the debut as he completed the hat trick with two goals coming in the first period and one coming in the second. The business major out of France shot eight times with three on-goal while racking up one assist and seven points on the night.
  • Another Star making his Debut was Jovanny Nsonga from Chambery, France. Nsonga scored his first OCU goal in the 41st minute of play which made it a 3-0 game late in the first half.
  • Monday's match was the third all-time meeting between the two squads and the Stars remain undefeated against Bethany. Tonight's game was the first time OCU has shut out Bethany and is also the largest margin of victory in the series history after Oklahoma City beat Bethany 4-1 last year and squeaked out a double overtime victory 2-1 in 2021.
