PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – Oklahoma City University seeks repeat titles in the women's collegiate single and the men's collegiate double in the Dad Vail Regatta beginning 8 a.m. EDT (7 a.m. CDT) Friday at the Cooper River.

OCU will compete in the largest intercollegiate regatta in six events – men's collegiate single, men's varsity four, men's novice four and the women's collegiate double in addition to the women's collegiate single and men's collegiate double.

Ruthie Lacy captured the Dad Vail Regatta women's collegiate single on May 14, 2022 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Lacy, a junior from Oklahoma City, studying nursing, hauled in the Dave McCormick Trophy by finishing the race in 7 minutes, 47.306 seconds. Lacy will race at 8:10 a.m. EDT (7:10 a.m. CDT) Friday.

The Stars' Nikola Uveric and Jack Austin will take the water in the the men's collegiate double at 9:25 a.m. EDT (8:25 a.m. CDT) Friday. Last year, Taylor Broussard and Dawson Rogers of OCU took the men's collegiate double with a mark of 6:51.946.

The Dad Vail Regatta, in its 84th year, shifted venues to the Cooper River, where the 2,000-meter course will stretch from Route 130 to Cuthbert Boulevard. The Dad Vail Regatta had been held annually on the Schuylkill River each year since 1934 with exceptions due to World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic. The Schuylkill River is being dredged. The Cooper River hosts the NCAA Women's Rowing Championships on May 26-28.

"We spent the month of April with a significant amount of high intensity training before tapering for our championship race," OCU coach Cory Conzemius said. "Coming off of a productive final couple of weeks of training, the team is well prepared to line up against its toughest competition of the season. While we have not raced since our Opening Day Regatta over spring break, the team has been able to line up against each other in practice to push each other to find their speed. We look forward to representing OCU at the Dad Vail Regatta."

Andrija Simeunovic, Francisco Andrade and Jack Fruehwirth of Oklahoma City take part in the weekend's first race, the men's collegiate single, at 8 a.m. EDT (7 a.m. CDT) Friday.

OCU's crew of Aidan Moriarty, Broussard, Todor Stankovic and Simeunovic along with coxswain Sarah Tyree are entered in the men's varsity four, which will be contested at 10:30 a.m. EDT (9:30 a.m. CDT) Friday.

The Stars' women's collegiate double team comprised of Laura Muse and Tyree rows at 9:35 a.m. EDT (8:35 a.m. CDT) Friday.

OCU takes on the competition in the men's freshman four at 8:45 a.m. EDT (7:45 a.m. CDT) Friday. The Stars' freshman four includes Keaton Knopp, Kyle Brown, Santiago Arias, Cody Cobb and coxswain Andrade.
