OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University swept the season series vs. Central Christian with 7-0 and 9-1 victories on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The seventh-ranked Stars moved to 35-7, 22-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference softball on the season. Oklahoma City got the game's first runs across with six runs in the second inning.
Amy Crabaugh was awarded a little league homerun after her soft grounder was overthrown by the catcher.
Grace Pollon and Crabaugh both scored as the ball went all the way to the right field corner. OCU capped off the second inning with two two-run homeruns. One blast came off the bat of senior from Edmond, Okla.,
Kaitlyn Jones and the other was courtesy of the junior from Edmond, Okla.,
Kamryn Garvie. Paul collected the last RBI with a groundout to second base.
Jones went 2-for-4 for OCU with a double, a homerun, and two RBIs. Garvie's lone hit was her home run as she ended with two RBIs in the first game.
Tiffany Paul had a 2-for-3 outing with an RBI. OCU had eight total hits with
Rally Radacy,
Lexi Duff, and Pollon picking up the other three.
Shelby Cornelson started and went the distance striking out 11 Central Christian batters. Cornelson didn't allow a single hit until the seventh when the Tigers had back-to-back hits to start the inning off. Cornelson battled back and struck out the side to end the game to bring her to an outstanding 18-2 season record.
In Oklahoma City's second game, they opened the scoring again with Duff's sac fly in the first inning. OCU led 8-0 after four innings.
Paul had the Stars second RBI and
Analise Rayburn followed that with an RBI single that scored Jones and Paul. Jones collected her third RBI of the day in the fourth. Paul picked up the Stars sixth run with a double to score Radacy after Jones' hit.
After allowing her first run of the game in the top of the fifth, Duff decided to end it with a game-winning home run in the fifth inning over the left field wall.
Paul, the sophomore from Choctaw, Okla., went 2-for-3 in the game with two RBIs. Jones had one RBI in her 2-for-3 performance. Rayburn bounced back with a 2-for-3, two RBI performance. Duff also had two RBIs with hits in her two at bats. Radacy and Crabaugh had OCU's other two hits.
Duff, the senior from Lone Grove, Okla., pitched all five innings picking up four strikeouts. Her season record moved to 13-4 with the win.
OCU will head to Southwestern Christian on Wednesday to play a double header with the first pitch set for 2 p.m.
