PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University finished off a sweep of Wayland Baptist (Texas) with a 5-2 win Saturday at Wilder Field.
Felix Chenier-Rondeau and Trent Kiraly pounded home runs to power Oklahoma City, ranked 11th in NAIA baseball. The Stars went to 9-9, 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Rondeau, a senior psychology major from Blainville, Quebec, Canada, hit a homer to right field with two outs in the first inning. In the fourth, Aiden Alexander had an RBI single for OCU.
Tristan Williams knocked in runs with a double along the left-field foul line in the second and a base hit to right in the fifth to give the Stars a 4-0 advantage.
In the seventh, Kiraly launched a solo shot over the center-field wall.
Andrew Limbaugh struck out six while allowing one run on six hits and three walks in 6.1 innings. Limbaugh, a junior left-hander from Oklahoma City studying human performance, moved to 2-2 on the year. Grant Harrison worked 1.2 innings, while Reese Ratchford pitched the ninth to collect the save.
Kiraly, a junior from Farmington, N.M., majoring in finance, turned in a 4-for-5 day with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Williams, a senior from Southlake, Texas, studying business administration, posted a 3-for-5 showing with a double, run scored and two runs driven in.
OCU steps out of conference to meet Indiana Tech at 2 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
