OKLAHOMA CITY – Nearly 250 donors combined for a record-breaking $133,222 in support of OCU student-athletes during the annual Day of Champions giving day on Wednesday.
The fund raising number exceeds the previous high of $93,828 in 2021, and is a 48% increase from last year's campaign, which also raised over $90,000. It's the third straight year the Day of Champions has exceeded its goal, which, this year, was $100,000.
In all, 247 donors gave to the Day of Champions, which passed the goal of 200 once the $100,000 threshold was crossed. The donor count represented 123% of the stated goal.
"OCU supporters made it a great day for our student-athletes," OCU director of athletics
Corey Bray said. "The Day of Champions is one of the most important fund raising events we hold each year because it not only provides support for expenses that enhance the student-athlete experience at OCU, but it also provides vital funding for core operational expenses related to team travel, equipment, supplies and recruiting the next class of outstanding OCU student-athletes. While I'm not surprised at the response from our alumni, friends and family, I am grateful for the outpouring of support. Through both the dollars raised and the number of people who contributed, it was just another example of OCU supporters exceeding the standard set in the Home of Champions."
In addition to opportunities for funding to each varsity sport, several matching gifts were provided by generous donors, which allowed contributions to be doubled in many areas. Matching gifts were made by Paul and Kim Sanders, Delaware Resource Group, Greg Laird, Emily Webster Tew, the Doyle Parrack family, the McLaughlin family, wrestling coach Nicole Tyson, athletic director Corey Bray, and several anonymous alumni, parents and friends.
Donations and program support remain vitally important to each of OCU's varsity athletic teams and the department. To donate at any time, visit
