OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took a 4-3 win in their Saturday doubleheader against Mid-America Christian at the MACU baseball field after falling 3-0 in the first game.
Aiden Alexander supplied the game-winning hit in the fourth inning of the seven-inning game of the late contest. The Stars, ranked 22nd in the NAIA, went to 12-11.
OCU took the second game, but trailed 2-0 after the first inning.
Reese Ratchford pounded a home run to left-center field in the second to bring the score to 2-1. The Stars tied the game as
Hunter Lenochan reached home on Alexander's groundout.
Tristan Williams led off the fourth by launching a homer beyond the left-center field wall. Alexander, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., majoring in exercise science, put the Stars on top by nailing an RBI single to left with two out.
Starting pitcher
Rylan Roberson picked up nine strikeouts in six innings and the win to bring his record to 4-0. Roberson, a sophomore right-hander from Edmond, Okla., studying business administration, struck out the side in the sixth.
Tyler Polk got his third save on the year by working a scoreless seventh.
Lenochan, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., majoring in business adminstration, and
Felix Chenier-Rondeau, a senior psychology major from Blainville, Quebec, Canada, each went 2-for-3 to pace the Stars.
OCU had six hits in the first game, but failed to get any runs in the process.
Trent Kiraly had two hits to lead the Stars.
In the second,
Barrett Daniel and Kiraly each had hits to put two runners on for the Stars. Isaac Baez struck out the side to get out of the inning.
Despite his nine strikeouts in six innings of work,
Eli Davis picked up the loss to bring his season record to 4-2. Baez earned the complete-game shutout for Mid-America Christian.
Oklahoma City concludes the series against Mid-America Christian at 1 p.m. Sunday at the MACU baseball field.
