TOPEKA, Kan - Oklahoma City University's men's team competed in the Washburn Open this past weekend. Multiple Stars claimed national qualifiers for A and B team and the men's distance medley team qualified for NCAA DII.
The Stars top performers were
Fares Marrouf,
Milan Todorovic, Alexander Daly, and
Brendan Robeaux. They claimed first in the distance medley in a time of 10:02.30 and qualified for the NCAA DII meets.
The men's other relay team of Daly, Todorovic, Robeaux, and Tate Smithart finished 3rd in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:18.22. They qualified for the national B team. The final men's relay team consisted of
Johnnie Jones, Aiden Hoover, Maarouf, and
Tanner Huffman. They finished 28th in the same 4x400 meter relay.
Robeaux, Smithhart, Hoover, David Boulanger, Maarouf, and
Milan Todorovic raced in the 800-meter race. Todorovic finished 3rd in a time of 1:51.76 as he qualified for the A team. Smithhart and Robeaux finished sixth and seventh with times of 1:54.07 and 1:54.30. Hoover ran a time of 200.08. Boulanger and Maarouf ran times of 2:00.44 and 2:00.74.
Huffman,
Pedro Becerra, and
Paul Welch ran in the 5000-meter race. Huffman ran a time of 15:44.81, Welch ran a 16:04.55, and Becerra a 16:30.84.
Three Stars competed in the mile. Boulanger led the Stars with a time of 4:20.85 in 14th. Fares Maarouf ran a 4:23.55 finishing 16th and
Halen Biggs ran a 4:25.55. Biggs also finished 13th in the 3000-meter race with a time of 8:42.42
Other notable finishers for the Stars were Daly with a 30th place finish in the 400m race. He ran a time of 50.03. Smithhart finished in 5th in a time of 1:14.44 and Jones finished 9th a second off his pace in the 600 yards race.
For the field Stars,
Jordan Iwuchukwu had a best distance of 13.52m in the shot put.
Up next for the Stars is the Pittsburgh State Indoor Gorilla Classic on Feb. 10.
