OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University meets Texas Wesleyan at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Eagles Nest in the Oklahoma Ford Dealers Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament quarterfinals.
The Stars (16-12) secured the third seed in the tournament, while Texas Wesleyan made the field as the No. 6 seed. Admission to the game is free.
The top four seeds will serve as hosts for the quarterfinal games Thursday. Fifth-ranked Langston owns the No. 1 seed.
Avery Jackson, a freshman political science major from Frisco, Texas, has been the OCU ringleader this season with 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.39 steals per contest this season.
Akili Vining has supplied Texas Wesleyan with 17.6 points and 5.0 rebounds a game in 2022-23. The two teams split the season series with the Stars prevailing 81-73 on Nov. 17 at Abe Lemons Arena.
The quarterfinal winners reach the SAC Tournament semifinals and championships, which will be at the Gaulke Activity Center on the campus of Mid-America Christian University on Feb. 27-28.
