OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Stars women's basketball team dominated from start to finish as four different Stars scored in double-figures to help blow out the Central Christian Tigers 87-31.
Oklahoma City (2-5, 1-2) took a 2-0 lead on a layup by
Amaya Gordon and never looked back as the Stars led for the entire 40 minutes of play. Â OCU held Central Christian (3-4, 0-2) scoreless in the final 5:18 of the first quarter helping the Stars close out the first period on a 12-0 run.Â
OCU continued its command by stretching the lead out to as much as 31 points, holding the Tigers to just one single point in the first seven minutes of the second quarter.
Ray Osborn provided a big second quarter for Oklahoma City with eight points and two steals.Â
The second half continued to be all OCU as a 22-3 run in the fourth quarter pushed Oklahoma City to a 56-point victory. The Tigers were held to just five points in the final quarter whereas OCU had its highest-scoring quarter with 29 points behind eight a piece from Gordon and
Jazmin Adams.Â
Senior
Amaya Gordon set a new season-high with a 23-point performance as the game-leading scorer. Gordon shot 11-15 from the field and started the contest with five straight makes while also hauling in seven boards.Â
Freshman
Jazmin Adams had a career day in her home debut as Adams went for a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds on 9-15 shooting.Â
Cacie Gorman and
Ray Osborn both pitched in for 11 points each as Osborn led the game with four steals.Â
OCU was feeling good on both ends of the floor as the Stars scored the most points since Dec. 3 2022 which also came against Central Christian. The dominant defense of the Stars forced 30 turnovers picked up 21 steals and had seven players with two or more.Â
The Central Christian 30 turnovers tie the most Oklahoma City has forced since Jan. 20, 2018, coming against Oklahoma Panhandle State. With the 21 steals OCU comes out to tie the most steals in a game since Jan. 19, 2017, in a 106-41 win over St. Gregory's.Â
The 56-point win was the largest margin of victory for Oklahoma City since beating Bacone by 59 points back on Jan. 16, 2020, by a score of 95-36.
With the win, OCU remains a perfect 13-0 against Central Christian in the all-time series dating back to 2012.Â
The Stars will return to the hardwood on Tuesday night as they play host to Columbia College at 6 PM.
