LANGSTON, OKLA.. - The Oklahoma City Stars men's basketball team gave up 40 or more points in each half as Langston used a 23-5 run in the first half to pull away and cruise to a 34-point victory inside C.F. Gayles Field House on Thursday night.
Oklahoma City (2-5, 0-2) led 7-5 in the early stages of the game as sophomore
Avery Jackson laid the ball in at the rim to give OCU the advantage. Langston (6-0, 1-0) did not stay down long as a D'monte Brown three-pointer ignited a 24-2 run for the Lions to take a 30-9 lead.
Out of the locker rooms to begin the second half Langston led 40-19 and continued to pour on with a 15-0 run before
Clayton Jewell knocked down a free throw to break a five-minute scoring drought.
With 8:45 to play freshman
Beau Tranter supplied the Stars with their first field goal in seven minutes just before Langston took its largest lead of the night at 36. A pair of makes from the free throw line by
James Cloud and another good free throw from Jewell got the Stars back down to 28 before Langston ballooned the margin down the stretch to finish off the Sooner Athletic Conference contest 85-51.
Avery Jackson led the Stars with 15 points while sinking three of the four OCU three-pointers.
James Cloud added seven points while stringing together a solid 5-7 night from the charity stripe while Jewell chipped in with six points and five rebounds.
Brandon Jackson finished with three points and a team-leading six rebounds.
Langston got a game-high 22 points from Anthony Roy while also notching a double-double after hauling in 10 rebounds. Cortez Mosley (13), Chereef Knox (10), and D'monte Brown (10) all reached double-figures for the Lions.
Oklahoma City shot a season-low from the field (27.5%) and from the line (50%) in tonight's contest meanwhile, Langston shot the lights out of the gym with a season-high 49.1% outing from the field and a season-high 13 made threes on 50% shooting from beyond the arc.
The Lions won their third straight over Oklahoma City however the Stars remain in front in the all-time series by an 8-7 margin.
Oklahoma City will return home for the first time since Nov. 11 to play host to Sooner Athletic Conference foe Central Christian on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3:45 p.m. inside Abe Lemons Arena.
