POTEAU, OKLA. - The Oklahoma City women's wrestling team competed in the Viking Open on Sunday as the Stars racked up three first-place finishers.
Sofia Abramson made it to the semifinal round after winning in the quarters by a tech fall 17-4. The freshman picked up a win in the consolation semifinal round by another tech fall 16-5, making her way to the third place match before falling (TF 1:22) to Audalie Cruz of Wayland Baptist. Abramson finished fourth in the 101 class and scored 11.5 team points.Â
Nadia Alejandres notched a fifth-place slot after falling by decision 7-7 to Hannah Selle of Fort Hayes State. The junior from Moore picked up one win after defeating Madison Chambers of Friends University. (TF 10-0).
Eliana Martinez quite possibly had the biggest day after going 3-0 earning first place in the 109-pound class. Martinez won the final match over the returned NJCAA champion Angie Rediger of the University of St. Mary. (Inj. 0:11).Â
Sophomore out of Lucas, Texas
Avery Ashley had a 3-0 day by earning 18 team points and a first-place finish in the 116 class. Ashley won the first-place match over Jaia Ashely of Schreiner University by a 16-6 decision.Â
Destiny Campbell made her into the first-place match as well, however, the freshman lost on an 8-0 decision earning second place in the 130 class and giving Oklahoma City 17 points.Â
Makayla Munoz picked up wins in the first round and the quarterfinal round to put the freshman in the semifinals. Munoz fell short after being defeated by teammate
Marissa Jimenez in a 6-0 decision. Munoz went on to win the consolation semis (TF 11-0) and the third place match (TF 13-2) to solidify a 4-1 day giving her team 17.5 points.Â
Marissa Jimenez finished 3-0 with 18.5 team points and first place finish after winning the final match over Diriann Porras from the University of the Ozarks. (TF 10-0).Â
Presley Givens started with three straight wins making her way to the first-place match. Givens went down by fall in 1:55 to Abigail Senesta of Ottawa University. Despite falling in the final round, Givens earned a second-place finish supplying the Stars with 18 points.Â
Maria Sifuentes placed third while racking up 18.5 points as Sifuentes made her way into the semifinal after two tech fall defeats of 10-0. After falling in the semis, the freshman ruled her back with more victories to finish 4-1 in the 155 class.
Senior from Moore
Ryann Rumsey placed second in the 191 weight class after a win in the semifinal round over Payton Sholander from Wayland Baptist (Fall 2:20). Making it to the first place match Rumsey was defeated by a 10-0 tech fall to Rewa Chababo of the University of Ozarks.Â
