MCPHERSON, KAN. - The Oklahoma City Stars volleyball team tied its sweep total from a season ago after taking down Central Christian in three sets as Ruby Kelley and Emma Nickerson led the way with double-digit kills.

Set 1
OCU jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after an ace from Riley Winkler to open up the match and a kill by Emma Nickerson to follow. OCU maintained a strong lead up until the Tigers crept up to make it a one-game after an ace by Jacque Freeman to make it an 11-10 Stars lead. OCU hit the gas pedal and ran away with the lead as kills came from Ruby Kelley and Rylee Steward. Up ahead 22-17 Oklahoma City closed out the first set with three consecutive points as Steward and Nickerson pitched in kills to send the Stars on to a 25-17 win.
Set 2
Central Christian scored the first two points of the second set, however, OCU rallied to score the next five points as Nickerson delivered three kills during the run. Leading 15-9 OCU fell victim to a 10-0 run as Zoe Smith for the Tigers picked up four aces in that span. Oklahoma City clawed its way back to tie things at 20 apiece on two kills by Kelley along with a kill by Natalie Adams. OCU reached set point with a 24-22 lead however the Tigers clawed their way to tying it back up 24-24. The Stars were able to score the next two points to finish out the set as two errors for Tigers sent OCU on to a 26-24 victory.
Set 3
Central Christian opened up the third set with a 4-0 lead but the Stars turned around and rattled off a 9-1 run as Nickerson and Kelley combined for five kills to give OCU a 9-5 lead. Leading 12-8 a kill by Michela De Stefano got Oklahoma City started on an 8-1 run as the Stars took a commanding 20-9 lead. Having its best set of the match OCU continued to pour it on the Tigers as the Stars wrapped up the third set with four straight points as Nickerson delivered the match-winning kill to give Oklahoma City a 25-11 win.
Game Notes
- Oklahoma City tallied 39 kills on a .327 attack percentage which was the fourth-highest percentage for OCU this season. Central Christian had 33 kills on a .050 hitting percentage.
- OCU racked up 13 blocks making it the fourth most in a match this season.
- Ruby Kelley once again led the way for the Stars in kills with 13 to go along with seven digs.
- Emma Nickerson fell right behind Kelley with her third-highest kill total of 11 on the night.
- Rylee Steward who was awarded the SAC Defender of the Week on Monday rendered up a big night with seven blocks and eight kills on a .583 attack percentage.
- Natalie Adams reached a match-high in assists with 33 to make it the eighth time Adams has gone over 30 kills this season.
- Riley Winkler finished with 12 digs to tie her second-best number of digs in a match this season. Kaitlyn Dunlap led the way for the Stars with 13 digs.
- OCU earned its seventh sweep of the season after the win over Central Christian to tie its season total from last season with three matches to play.
- The Stars remain undefeated in the all-time series against Central Christian after winning its 13th straight match and its 12th sweep over the Tigers dating back to 2017.
