OCU stomps on SCU in 78-64 road win

Cacie Gorman sets season high in 14 points

BETHANY, Okla. - Oklahoma City University came out with a 78-64 victory over Southwestern Christian.
 
Fiona Wilson went a perfect 3-3 from deep to lead the Stars with 15 points. Oklahoma City moves to 7-8, 4-6 in SAC women's basketball.
 
OCU went on a rampage in the second finishing the quarter up by 16. OCU outscored the Lady Eagles 26 to six in the second. The Stars trailed by two to start the second but got off to a hot start on both ends to put SCU in a hole too big to climb out of.
 
Wilson, a senior human performance major from Greenland, Ark., added five boards to her 15 points. Annilia Dawn, had another great defensive game snagging four steals to go along with 13 points and seven assists. Dawn, a senior psychology major from Amarillo, Texas is ranked 55th in 3 -pointers in the NAIA.  Cacie Gorman, a junior psychology major from Watonga, Okla. had her highest scoring game of the season with 14 points and six rebounds. Ray Osborn was the other Star in double figures with 10.
 
The Stars shot 46.7 percent from deep and 43.8 percent from the field on the win. SCU cut the lead to 10 with two minutes left in the fourth. The Stars would proceed to allow just two points the rest of the way. The Stars torched the Lady Eagles down low leading to 38 points in the paint compared to 16 for SCU.
 
Stars head coach, Kris Seigenthaler said, "That's a huge SAC road win!! I am extremely proud of our grit and toughness. Now we shift our focus to MACU."
 
OCU will indeed shift their focus to MACU for their next contest on Sat. at 2 p.m.  The game will be held at Redlands Community College in El Reno.
