EL RENO, Okla. – Oklahoma City University overcame 14-point deficit to beat Mid-America Christian 73-71 on Saturday at The Pit at Redlands.
 
Ray Osborn ignited the spark for the Stars late in the game, but it was Annilia Dawn who led with 17 points on the night. OCU moved to 8-8, 5-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball this season.
 
With MACU going full-court press the whole first half OCU only amassed 21 points and had 11 turnovers. The second was much different with OCU scoring 52 points. The Stars got out to a fast start in the third going on an 11-3 run to cut the score to 39-34. MACU got out to a 10-point lead again, but the third would end with the Evangel having a 47-41 lead. The Stars shined in the fourth coming back all the way back to tie it and eventually take the lead and hold on it.
 
Coming off of an Osborn and-one layup, the Stars brought it to a one-point game with 6:57 left. Osborn would tie it on two free throws and take the lead with a layup a few seconds later. OCU would never hinder the lead the rest of the way.
 
Dawn, a senior psychology major from Amarillo, Texas supplied six rebounds and three 3-pointers with her 17 points. Osborn, a junior Psychology major from Sapulpa, Okla., was a key player late for the Stars. She had a 16-point game. Fiona Wilson had 14 points and six rebounds in the Stars come from behind win. Amaya Gordon had the only double-double of the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. Gordon, a junior criminal justice major from Ardmore, Okla., notched her third double-double of the season.

The Stars came up with the victory after Mid-America Christian swept all three contests last season against OCU. Mid-America Christian entered the contest receiving votes in the NAIA poll.
 
"This afternoon was a huge SAC win for our squad and our program," OCU coach Kris Seigenthaler said. "The adversity our players fought through and the toughness of not being denied. Tonight underscores the effort and sacrifice that prepared our players to edge out the win against the No. 26 team in the nation."

OCU will take on Texas Wesleyan on Thursday at 6 p.m. looking to make it three wins in a row.
