NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – Oklahoma City University's men's soccer team scored two first-half goals to down Bethel (Kan.) 2-1 on Thursday night at Thresher Stadium and remain undefeated on the season.
John Woodhead delivered both goals for the Stars. OCU went to 5-0 this year.
Both goals came unassisted. Woodhead, a senior from Newcastle, England, scored his first goal in the 15th minute on a calculated play where Jusung Kang crossed the ball. Woodhead let it go through his legs to a waiting Jordan Da Costa, who richocheted the ball off the goalkeeper Gustavo Infante right to Woodhead, who followed it up for the score.
His next goal came in the 39th minute off a similar play where he attempted to pass to a streaking Bernardo Duarte when it was saved by a defender. Woodhead followed that up with a goal past the goalkeeper for his sixth goal on the season.
OCU won despite trailing in shots 15-11. Danilo Vilani, a senior from Goiânia, Brazil, had three saves on the night.
The Stars' next matchup will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Brian Harvey Field.
