FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University outfought Texas Wesleyan by a final score of 3-0 at Martin Field.
Oklahoma City moved to 6-1-2 on the season and began 1-0 in conference play. This was the Stars' third shutout of the season.
The Stars had an offensive explosion in the first half with all three goals coming in the first 30 minutes. The Stars had three goal scorers on the night as well.
Millie Templeman began the game with a goal just before 2:30 had passed.
Madi Caputo dished out another assist to get her season total to 10. Templeman's goal was her third on the season. OCU's second goal came shortly after in the seventh minute.
Piper Nichols, the freshman from Little Rock, Ark., nabbed her first collegiate goal. She had two shots on goal as well.
Saizlee Carlton got the assist for the final goal awarded to
McLain Moss who scored her second goal of the season in the 26th minute to secure the victory.
Irene Gonzalez held up defensively with three saves in each half to bring her season total to 21. The Stars held Texas Wesleyan to 11 shots and only four in the first half. OCU, on the other hand, had an impressive 11 shots in the first half and 13 overall with nine shots coming on goal.
OCU looks to start 2-0 in conference play, returning to action 7 p.m. Saturday against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) in Waxahachie, Texas.
