WAXAHACHIE, Texas - Oklahoma City University scored the only goal in the matchup to shutout Southern Assemblies of God (Texas) 1-0. The Stars improve to 8-1 -2 on the season and start conference play 2-0. The shutout is the Stars second in a row and fourth on the season.
Madi Caputo scored the goal for the Stars in the 52nd minute. The goal for Caputo, the senior from Broken Arrow, was her third goal on the season to go along with an impressive 10 assists. The goal came on their second shot of the half as they dominated shots throughout the game.
They finished with 16 shots, nine shots on goal compared to SAGU's six shots and two shots on goal. SAGU goalkeeper finished with eight saves and Irene Gonzalez finished with two. OCU also won the corner kick game holding SAGU to zero corners and achieving three of their own.
Madi Caputo and Piper Nichols, who scored her first collegiate goal last game, led the team in shots with three each. Madison McEwin, the senior from Owasso, Okla., had two shots.
OCU is headed back home for their next game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Central Christian (Kan.) at Brian Harvey Field.
