FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University gave Texas Wesleyan its second loss on the season with a final score of 2-0 at Martin Field.
OCU moved to 7-2 on the season and started 1-0 in conference play. This was the Stars' second shutout in a row.
The Stars scored late in the first half at the 36th minute when
Lucas de Freitas took the pass from
Jordan Da Costa and kicked it under the goalkeepers' arms in the left side. De Freitas' goal was his sixth on the season, and the assist by Da Costa would be his fifth.
De Freitas' seventh goal on the season and second in the game came in the 67th minute when he kicked it past the goalkeeper, who came out of the box to defend de Freitas. The assist by
Bernardo Duarte came after he maneuvered his way past three defenders, nutmegging one of them.
With these two scores by de Freitas, he has scored the Stars' last four goals with his two goals against Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Oct. 17.
OCU won despite Texas Wesleyan having 19 shots compared to the Stars' 13. The Stars defense stepped up throughout the game, while
Danilo Vilani collected nine saves overall.
