VICTORIA, Texas – Oklahoma City University snuck by Houston-Victoria by a score of 2-1 after a game-winning goal by
April Hill on Thursday at The Cage.
With the win the Stars improved to 5-1-1 on the season and second in the conference. Hill, a senior from Portsmouth, Petersfield, England, produced the clutch score in the 79th minute.
Hill got the game-winning goal with the assist going to
McLain Moss at the 79:38 mark. Hill's goal would be her fifth on the year, and the assist would be the second for Moss.
OCU allowed one early goal and shut the Jaguars out for the rest of the game. The Stars' first goal came off the foot of
Madi Caputo in the 33rd minute with
Millie Templeman getting the assist. The goal for Caputo would be her first on the year after collecting eight assists. Templeman notched her third assist of the season.
In between the Stars' first and last goals, there were only four shots. In total, there were 13 shots with OCU owning six, and five of those six shots coming on goal. Houston-Victoria would end with two shots on goal.
Irene Gonzalez finished the game with one save, bringing her season total to 15.
The Stars are on the road again with their next matchup coming on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) in San Antonio.
