Stars shut down Bethany 2-0

Granados scores twice to key OCU

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University come out on top against Bethany (Kan.) on the first game of the women's soccer season 2-0 on Wednesday at Brian Harvey Field.

Sofia Carvajal Granados was the brightest Star of the competition, scoring both goals for OCU in the win. Granados' first goal came in the 20th minute off a perfect assist from Ciana Carlton

Granados got the ball, conducted some fancy footwork, and beamed the ball right between the goalkeeper's legs for the Stars' first goal of the season.

Backed by some top-notch defense, the Stars held onto the lead until they were able to add on to it. In the 52nd minute, Granados notched her second goal off a penalty kick. Mackenzie Nutter, the keeper, moved left, and Granados kicked the ball right.

The Stars attacked the net all game with 18 shots accounted for compared to Bethany's 10.
