SILVIS, Ill. – Dalton Daniel highlighted Oklahoma City University's effort in the NAIA men's golf championships Tuesday at TPC Deere Run.
Daniel, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., turned in a 1-over-par score to lead the Stars. Ninth-ranked OCU tees off the first hole starting 12:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Oklahoma City posted a 294 on the par-71, 6,691-yard course. Daniel topped the Stars with a 36-36–72 while knocking in birdies on the first, second and 16th holes. No. 2 is a par-5, 546-yard hole.
Dylan Teeter of OCU turned in a 36-37–73 in his national-tournament debut. Teeter, a freshman from Bixby, Okla., nailed a birdie on the par-4, 380-yard eighth hole.
The Stars' Tres Hill compiled a 38-35–73. Hill, a freshman from Elk City, Okla., played bogey-free with a birdie on the on the par-5, 520-yard 17th hole over the last nine holes.
Will Fore provided Oklahoma City with a 36-40–76. Fore, a senior from Southlake, Texas, made a birdie on No. 2, a par-5, 546-yard hole. Ben Thionnet, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., recorded a 45-40–85 with birdies on his final two holes.
