WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma City University fell to Friends (Kan.) 5-4 on Tuesday at the West Side Athletic Field.
OCU's 16-game winning streak came to an end. The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA baseball, dropped to 40-4.
Friends overcame Oklahoma City's 4-1 eighth-inning advantage with four runs in the final two innings and two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Oliver Dunn lofted a sacrifice fly to left field with the bases full to knock in the winning run.
Cross Factor pounded an RBI double into right field to put the Stars on top 4-1 in the eighth. Darian Luper staked OCU to a 1-0 first-inning lead by crushing a home run over the left-field fence.
Factor, a senior from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Luper, a senior from Ada, Okla., posted a 2-for-4 showing with two runs scored and an RBI, while Jesse Fonteboa, a junior from Las Vegas, had a 2-for-3 day.
The Stars return to Sooner Athletic Conference play against Panhandle State in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Friday in Goodwell, Okla.
