Stars Sweep Langston In Doubleheader Action

LANGSTON – No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University extended its winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep over Langston on Tuesday afternoon. OCU banged out 11 hits en route to a 7-0 win in the opener before erupting for a season-high 19 hits in a 17-1 run rule win in game two.
 
The Stars took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of the opener, with junior Kaitlyn Jones scoring on an infield error and junior Amy Crabaugh driving in senior Brooklyn Mason with a RBI single. OCU tacked on three runs in the third inning to increase the lead to 5-0 with those runs scoring a RBI single by freshman Rally Radacy, RBI double by junior Kaitlyn Jones and RBI single by Mason.
 
Jones went three-for-three at the plate with a walk and two runs scored. Radacy, senior Lexi Duff and Mason finished with two hits apiece,
 
Junior Shelbey Cornelson (21-2) earned the win with a complete game shutout effort. She allowed four hits with a season-high 13 strikeouts and two walks.
 
OCU (35-4, 21-3 SAC) scored eight runs in the top of the first inning to put game two away quickly. Duff got the scoring started with a two-out two-run homerun. Senior Kennedy Jackson hit a two-run shot later in the frame to increase the lead to 7-0.
 
Jackson, Jones and senior Nicole Robinson finished with three hits apiece in the route. Duff, Jones and Crabaugh finished with three RBIs apiece.
 
Duff (14-2) earned the win after allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks in the five-inning game.
 
OCU returns to action this weekend with a home series against Oklahoma Panhandle State.
