OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dealt Texas Wesleyan its first league loss of the season 7-3 on Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
OCU completed the sweep with a 4-2 victory in the second game of the doubleheader. The Stars, ranked second in NAIA softball, improved to 20-1, 7-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the first game, the Stars erased a 2-0 first-inning deficit by scoring seven unanswered runs. In the second, Amy Crabaugh laid down a bunt hit that Brooklyn Mason scored on. Kennedy Jackson knocked in the tying run with a base hit to left field.
Lexi Duff put OCU on top 5-2 in the fifth on a two-run single to left-center field.
Duff, a senior from Lone Grove, Okla., earned the victory by holding Texas Wesleyan to one run on two hits and two walks. Duff (9-0) retired eight in a row between the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., turned in a 3-for-3 performance with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases, while Rally Radacy, a freshman from Lookeba, Okla., went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
In the next game, Oklahoma City secured the win in the sixth with a pair of runs. Mason scored the winning run on Nicole Robinson's groundout. On the same play, Mallory McCoy reached home plate on a throwing error.
Radacy brought home the first run of the game with a base hit to center in the first. McCoy's sacrifice fly gave the Stars a 2-0 fourth-inning advantage.
Radacy added a 3-for-3 game with an RBI in the second contest, and Kaitlyn Jones, a junior from Edmond, Okla., was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. McCoy, a junior from Mustang, Okla., contributed a 1-for-2 stat line with a run scored, double and RBI.
Shelbey Cornelson struck out seven and limited Texas Wesleyan (12-6, 6-2 SAC) to two runs on seven hits. Cornelson, a junior from Tuttle, Okla., went to 11-1.
Oklahoma City meets Southwestern Christian in a 2 p.m. twin bill Tuesday at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City.
