NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Cross Factor smacked a two-run home run in the ninth inning to propel Oklahoma City University to a 12-11 victory over Central Baptist (Ark.) on Tuesday at Burns Park.
Factor pounded a two-run blast over the right-field wall after Chad Pike led off the ninth with a base hit. Oklahoma City, ranked 20th in NAIA baseball, went to 14-1 this season.
Braden Hill kept Central Baptist scoreless in the last two innings to gain the win. The Stars overcame a 10-6 fifth-inning deficit.
In the eighth, OCU plated four runs to tie the game 10-10. Peyton Crispin nailed a two-run double along the right-field foul line to fuel the rally. Cade Stephens drew a bases-loaded walk, while Dylan Taylor knocked in the tying run with a single to left.
Felix Chenier-Rondeau launched a three-run shot over the center-field wall to put the Stars ahead 5-2 in the second. Rondeau, a sophomore from Blainville, Quebec, Canada, turned in a 3-for-4 performance with three runs driven in and two runs scored.
Factor, a senior from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-3, scored three runs and knocked in two runs, while Jesse Fonteboa, a junior from Las Vegas, had a 3-for-5 day with a run scored for OCU.
Pike, a sophomore from Southampton, N.Y., was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Frederic Walter, a senior from Montigny, France, posted a 2-for-4 showing.
The Stars begin Sooner Athletic Conference play with a 3 p.m. doubleheader Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
