CHICKASHA, Okla. – It was a monumental day for Oklahoma City University softball on Saturday at the NAIA Softball Invitational.

OCU, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches' Poll, improved to 11-0 on the season while legendary head coach
Phil McSpadden recorded his 1,800th career win. That is the most victories vs. four-year competition of any college softball coach at any level.

McSpadden has directed Oklahoma City to a record of 1,800-393 (.821 winning percentage) as well as 10 national championships in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2016 and 2017 in his 35th year.
OCU opened Saturday with a 5-1 win over No. 6 ranked Columbia (Mo.)

The scoring got started for the Stars in the bottom of the first inning on a SAC bunt RBI by redshirt freshman
Tiffany Paul and an RBI triple by junior
Kaitlyn Jones.

OCU would tack on two more runs in the third inning to build a 4-0 lead. The runs scored on a double steal of second base and home with freshman
Rally Radacy scoring and a RBI single by senior
Brooklyn Mason.

The lead increased to 5-0 when senior
Kennedy Jackson scored on a Paul ground out in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Columbia managed one run in the top of the fifth inning but that is as close as they would get and neither team would score the rest of the game.

OCU out-hit Columbia 9-4 with Jackson leading the way with three hits and two runs scored.

Senior
Lexi Duff improved to 5-0 for the Stars with a seven-inning complete game effort. She allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

OCU defeated McPherson (Kan.) 9-0 in game two, pushing McSpadden to his milestone 1,800th win.

OCU returns to action on Tuesday with a road doubleheader against Mid-America Christian. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
