Stars trample Southwestern Christian 10-0, 10-0

Fourth-ranked OCU moves to 7-0 in 2022

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to 10-0, 10-0 victories against Southwestern Christian on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium. 

Shelbey Cornelson and Lexi Duff combined to limit Southwestern Christian to four hits during the twin bill. The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, improved to 7-0, 2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. 

In the first game, Oklahoma City plated four runs as Duff and Brooklyn Mason launched RBI doubles in the first inning.  

In the second inning, Tiffany Paul smacked a run-scoring single to spark a three-run inning.  

Kaitlyn Jones nailed an RBI single along the third-base line to give OCU a fourth-inning 10-0 advantage.  

Paul, a redshirt freshman from Choctaw, Okla., had a 2-for-3 outing with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Rally Radacy, a freshman from Lookeba, Okla., went 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs scored. Duff and Jones each drove in two runs. 

Cornelson retired Southwestern Christian in order after allowing a double with one out in the first. Cornelson, a junior from Tuttle, Okla., struck out eight in five innings. She moved to 3-0 on the year. 

In the second game, OCU piled up nine runs in the third inning. Mallory McCoy crushed a two-run double into right-center field to put the Stars ahead 7-0. Amy Crabaugh nailed a triple to right-center, then Nicole Robinson added an RBI single. 

Kennedy Jackson began the scoring in the second contest by stealing home. Jackson scored on a stolen base for the second time on the day.  

Duff, a senior from Lone Grove, Okla., went to 4-0 this season. Duff shut out Southwestern Christian on three hits and a walk in five innings.  

Robinson, a senior from Rochester, Ill., turned in a 2-for-2 performance with two runs scored and an RBI. Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., went 2-for-3 and scored twice, and McCoy, a junior from Mustang, Okla., was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.  

Oklahoma City returns to action in the Mid-America Christian-Science & Arts NAIA Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Chickasha, Okla. The Stars meet Tabor (Kan.) at 11 a.m. before facing Sterling (Kan.) at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Chickasha Sports Complex.
