OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Jack Kitchingham laid claim to Sooner Athletic Conference men's wrestler of the week after his outstanding performance at the Lindenwood Open.
In Kitchingham's matches, he won four times by fall and pinned his way through the tournament. He collected the second most pins among the tournament field. Kitchingham, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., had the second most pins among the men's wrestling field.
In the final, he completed the fall against Arkansas-Little Rock's Matthew Weinert in 2:01. He had two falls in less than a minute each, pinning Josh Franklin of Rochester Tech (Minn.) in 43 seconds and pining Kayden Garrett of Quincy (Ill.) in 57 seconds. His second match against Robert Lee of Lyon (Ark.) ended in 1:33. His third against Trey Ward of Central Methodist (Mo.) ended in a medical forfeit.
Kitchingham, ranked 21st among NAIA 197-pounders, went to 8-0 on the season with five pins this season.
