Stars absorb 80-59 loss to Friends

OCU moves to 1-1 on season

WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma City University suffered an 80-59 loss to Friends (Kan.) on Saturday at the Garvey Center.

Fiona Wilson paced the Stars with 21 points. Oklahoma City dropped to 1-1 on the women's basketball season.

Wilson, a senior from Greenland, Ark., picked up nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Cacie Gorman, a junior from Watonga, Okla., registered 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

To begin the second half, Wilson nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to put OCU ahead 39-38. With 6:34 left in the third quarter, Wilson hit a pair of free throws to tie the game 41-41.

Friends responded with an 8-0 run to seize the lead back.

"It was a tough loss tonight, but there's a lot to take away from it," OCU coach Kris Seigenthaler said. "We will get back after it, adjust and shift our focus to SAC competition in Texas Wesleyan."

The Stars faces Texas Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena in OCU's Sooner Athletic Conference opener.
