OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University has been on a tear with a 5-0 win making it five straight shutout victories. The Stars move to 10-2, 4-0 on the season. This game by OCU was an all-around masterpiece with amazing goals and assists. The freshman and seniors also got involved and contributed to this impressive win.
OCU's first goal came in the 20th minute on a pass from
Harvey Paul that
John Woodhead shot right in the goal. Woodhead made the goal look way easier than it was as the goalkeeper had trouble catching up to the ball as it flew past him for the goal. This goal would have never happened without
Gustavo Cardoso and his amazing defense and ball control as he got it past multiple defenders and was part of a give and go that got the ball to
Harvey Paul. Woodhead's leads OCU with nine goals. That is more goals than all other collegiate season Woodhead has put together.
The Stars next goal came eight minutes later with
Harvey Paul getting the assist again. It was
Jordan Da Costa with a great showing of ball control as he took the pass from Paul, let it bounce off his chest, kicked it back up to himself, and froze the goalkeeper on the shot.
The first period was about the seniors scoring and assisting. The second period was all about the freshman as every shot and assist came by a senior. Starting off in the 76th minute
Bernardo Duarte, from São Paulo, Brazil, got his third goal of the season with
Sage Trevino gaining his first assist of the game. After coming into the game a few minutes prior,
Aiden Mieger, from Prosper, Texas, scored his first collegiate goal in the 82nd minute. This was just his second appearance of his freshman season. Trevino assisted on this one for his second of the game. Trevino, the freshman from Plano, Texas now has three goals and two assists on the season.
Overall, OCU and Wayland tied in shots with 12. What mattered was the shots on goal as OCU had nine and Wayland Baptist managed just two. Wayland had five saves as OCU had two.
