SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University lost to a conference men's soccer opponent for the first time this season 5-1 to John Brown Ark.) on Saturday at Alumni Field.
OCU's only goal came from
John Woodhead in the 74th minute. Woodhead collected his 10th goal of the season. The Stars went to 10-3, 4-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference.
Oklahoma City had won its previous five contests. The Stars' most previous loss came 2-1 at Houston-Victoria on Sept. 15.
The bulk of the scoring occurred in the second period as the Stars' defense held up for the first half of the game. John Brown started the scoring off with a goal in the 39th minute and scored three straight goals within a span of 13 minutes. Woodhead scored a minute after JBU's goal. OCU won the saves battle with five saves compared to JBU's two.
Danilo Vilani started as goalie and was subbed out in the 77th minute for
Derrick Rodriguez. The Stars were outshot by a score of 23-7 and 10-3 on shots on goal.
OCU will play Southwestern Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brian Harvey Field for its next matchup.
