Stars surrender zero goals for fourth straight game

Duarte, Kang each score

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University defeats Central Christian by a final score of 2-0 at Brian Harvey Field. The Stars improve to 9-2, 3-0. The Stars are on a dominant hot streak right now with four straight shutouts and owning the shot total in each of those matchups.

On the night, the Stars scored their first goal in the 37th minute off a corner kick by Jordan Da Costa that was headed in by Bernardo Duarte. The ball was curved off Duarte's head perfectly to wear only Central Christians goalkeeper was able to try to handle it. Ultimately the ball once bounced off his diving hands and into the goal. The goal was his first of the year for the freshman from Seymour, Tennessee.

The Stars' second goal came off the foot of Jusung Kang. Lucas de Freitas crossed it from right to left, it deflected off a Central Christian player's foot landing right in front of Kang who faked out a defender with a hesitant move. He shot the ball after the defender stumbled right past the goalkeepers diving arms. The goal by Kang was his fourth of the year.

The Stars controlled the ball a good chunk of the night and shot an even five shots in both periods with five coming on goal. Danilo Vilani finished the night with two saves, both in the second period. Central Christian was held to four shots on the night and only one in the first period.

OCU gets back on the field Saturday at 4 p.m. at Brian Harvey Field looking to make it five straight shutout victories.
