Stars Dig Out Of Early Hole To Extend Winning Streak To Three Games

Result Marks Fifth Win In Last Six Games

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University extended its winning streak to three games with a 73-62 Sooner Athletic Conference win over John Brown on Thursday evening at Bill George Arena. The win was also the fifth in the last six games for the Stars.

JBU (13-9, 7-7 SAC) started the game with a 17-4 run before OCU (11-10, 10-4 SAC) mounted a furious comeback. The Stars tied the score 29-29 on jumper by senior Romario Spence at the 4:43 mark enroute to claiming a 34-29 halftime lead over the home team.

OCU took its first double-digit lead of the evening at 39-29 on a right corner 3-pointer by senior guard Ryan Birt at the 18:00 mark of the second half. The lead would shrink to 3 points at 53-50 but the Stars responded with a 16-2 run, taking an insurmountable 69-52 lead on two free throws by Birt at the 5:08 mark.

All five starters scored in double-figures for the Stars. Junior forward Kori Guest led the way with a team-high 18 points, followed by senior guard Rashaun Coleman who finished with 14 points. Birt finished with 13 points, senior guard Dravon Clayborn with 12 points and Spence with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
