Late Surge Leads OCU To SAC Win Over Central Christian

Selzer reaches 1,500 career points with 27-point effort

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University utilized a fantastic final eight minutes to post a 74-57 win over Central Christian (Kan.) in Sooner Athletic Conference play on Thursday evening at Abe Lemons Arena.

OCU (11-6, 6-6 SAC) led 41-27 at halftime and held a double-digit lead for most of the third quarter. CCCK (1-18, 0-12) fought back to cut the Star lead to 54-50 on a Meya Gibson jumper at the 7:37 mark of the fourth quarter.

The Stars responded to the close call by going on a 20-7 run over the last seven and a half minutes to secure the win.

Senior guard Annilia Dawn provided OCU a 64-54 lead with a lay-up at the 3:50 mark before senior guard Erika Ankney put the game away with back-to-back 3-pointers, stretching the margin to 70-56.

OCU played the game at full strength for the first time in over a month. A total of 10 players saw action for OCU in the win.

Senior center Abby Selzer reached a statistical milestone by finishing with a team-high 27 points and 11 rebounds. That offensive outing pushed her past the 1,500 career point total. The four-year standout has now registered 1,515 career points.

Ankney finished with 19 points and junior forward Fiona Wilson recorded eight points and seven rebounds.

Head coach Brett Tahah was thrilled to see Selzer reach such an important milestone.

"Abby has had an outstanding career and I am so proud of her," Tahah said. "She always brings her best. I cannot wait to see what she does the rest of the season."

OCU returns to action on Saturday with a road conference contest at Langston. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
