Tommaso Belli scored two goals apiece to lead Oklahoma City University to a dominating 6-1 win over Randall University on Saturday night at Brian Harvey Field.
OCU (4-1) extended its winning streak to three matches, while Randall, the defending NCCAA Division II National Champion, fell in its season opener.
Palic got the scoring started for the Stars when he found the back of the net on a shot just inside the box after receiving a long pass from senior Gustavo Cardosa in the 16th minute. Belli pushed the lead to 2-0 when he scored on a left-to-right shot from 15 yards out in the 30th minute.
After holding a 2-0 halftime lead, OCU scored four times in the second half to claim the decisive win. Senior
Lucas de Freitas got the second half scoring started by putting one in the net from 10 yards out in the 52nd minute. That goal was followed by scores by Belli in the 59th minute, junior
Thomas McElyea in the 75th minute and Palic in the 84th minute.
The Stars outshot Randall 17-5, finishing with a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper
Danilo Vilani made two saves for the Stars.
OCU returns to action on Monday, Sept. 13 with a road game at Jarvis Christian (Texas). The next home game will be a Tuesday, Sept. 28 tilt against Mid-America Christian.
