OKLAHOMA CITY – Arizona Christian edged Oklahoma City University 3-2 in a hard-fought match on Saturday morning at Brian Harvey Field. The result closed out non-conference play for the Stars while also snapping OCU's four-game winning streak.
 
ACU (3-4) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Irene Ledezma in the 33rd minute before senior Mallorie Lane tied the score for the Stars when she tucked the ball inside the right post off a deflection off of ACU goalkeeper Jennifer Sanchez in the 40th minute.
 
OCU (5-2) took a 2-1 early in the second half when senior Millie Templeman scored from 15 yards out in the 47th minute. The Firestorm would answer with goals from Ledezma in the 68th minute and Rachel Clark in the 70th minute to retake the lead.
 
Neither team would score the rest of the way. OCU managed a shot on goal by senior April Hill in the 85th minute but Sanchez made the save for ACU to help preserve the lead.
 
ACU finished with a 7-5 edge in shots on goal with Star senior keeper Josie Knox keeping her team in the game by making four saves.
 
OCU will return to action on Tuesday by opening Sooner Athletic Conference play against Mid-America Christian on the home field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
