OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University scored three second half goals to defeat York College 3-0 on hot and muggy Thursday afternoon at Brian Harvey Field.
OCU (3-1) turned in a stifling defense effort in the win, limiting the Panthers to two shots on goal, with senior goalkeeper
Danilo Vilani making the stop on both shots. OCU finished with a 13-3 edge in total shots.
Sophomore
Tommaso Belli scored twice for the home team, opening up the scoring by left-footing one into the net from 20 yards out after receiving a pass from senior
Lucas de Freitas in the 51st minute. He then pushed the Stars lead to 2-0 when he redirected a hard shot with a header past the left post and into the net from 18 yards out in the 57th minute.
A steal and pass by senior
John Woodhead to senior Gustavo Cardosa set up OCU's last score in the 70th minute. Cardosa received the pass in traffic, weaved his way through a couple of defenders and then finished off the opportunity with a short-range blast into the back of the net.
OCU returns to action with a home game on Saturday night against Randall. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
