OCU routs Southwestern Christian 9-0

Second-ranked Stars look forward to Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University finished the regular season with a 9-0 win over Southwestern Christian on Monday at Dolese Park.
Sarah Fisher and Baileigh Loux hit home runs for the Stars. Oklahoma City, ranked second in NAIA softball, improved to 40-3, 31-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The SAC Tournament starts Thursday at OCU and Science & Arts and concludes Saturday with the championship at 1 p.m. Saturday.
In the second, Loux pounded a solo blast beyond the left-field fence to put the Stars ahead 1-0. Nicole Robinson tacked on a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 OCU advantage.
Jaden Shores drove home two more runs on a double down the left-field line. The Stars led 4-0 in the third.
In the sixth, OCU extended its margin to 9-0. Brooklyn Mason reached home plate on Robinson's groundout, and Amy Crabaugh scored on an error. Fisher hammered a three-run blast to left to close out the scoring.
Loux, a senior from Reno, Nev., turned in a 2-for-3 performance, scored twice and hit her eighth homer of the year. Shores, a senior from Blanchard, Okla., posted a 2-for-3 day with a run scored and two RBIs, and Mason, a junior from Lone Grove, Okla., went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Fisher, a senior from Vista, Calif., crushed her sixth homer of the year.
Shelbey Cornelson started the game and struck out six in 2.2 innings. Lexi Duff fanned four in 2.1 innings, notching the win. Duff, a junior from Lone Grove, Okla., went to 7-2. Christie Betker struck out the side in the sixth.
