Stars shut out Central Christian

Betker fires perfect game

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University pounded Central Christian (Kan.) 10-0 and 8-0 on Friday afternoon at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Christie Betker twirled a perfect game in the first contest, while Shelbey Cornelson shut Central Christian out on two hits in the second. The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, improved to 25-3, 18-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Betker, a senior from Reno, Nev., struck out six in five innings. Betker struck out the side in the third on the way to retiring all 15 batters she faced. Betker moved to 13-0 on the year.
Jaden Shores notched a pair of run-scoring doubles. Kaitlyn Jones touched off OCU's scoring with an RBI single. Baileigh Loux knocked in the Stars' second run with a double deep into right-center, then Shores nailed a double far into right-center field.
In the fourth, Shores doubled deep to center field to drive in a run as part of a four-run inning. Brooklyn Mason put OCU ahead 10-0 with a sacrifice fly to right.
In the second game, Cornelson allowed hits in the first and fifth innings. Cornelson struck out the side in the second. Cornelson moved to 8-1 on the year.
The Stars piled up six runs in the fifth.
OCU takes on Langston in a 5 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
