OCU cruises past Panhandle State 10-0

Stars reach double digits in runs for 15th time this year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 10-0 win over Panhandle State on Friday evening at Jim Wade Stadium.
Oklahoma City plated 10 or more runs for the 15th time this year. The Stars improved to 21-12, 11-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.
John Anthon and Fredric Walter pounded home runs, while Jake Patterson turned in OCU's first complete-game shutout effort of the year.
OCU led 4-0 after the first inning. Cross Factor drove in the first run with a base hit, then Dalton Reed lofted a sacrifice fly to left-center field. Peyton Crispin and Bryson Lierle added RBI doubles.
Reed scored in the third after leading off with a triple to right. Anthon hammered a solo shot over the right-field wall in the fourth.
In the seventh, Walter nailed a solo blast to right leading off. Gunner Halter crushed an RBI double to center, then Noah Barks drove in the last runs on a double along the right-field foul line.
Patterson came up with his first shutout since blanking Texas Wesleyan on March 7, 2020 at Jim Wade Stadium. Patterson, a senior left-hander from Ardmore, Okla., struck out nine and scattered seven hits and a walk. Patterson (7-1) retired the first eight batters he faced Friday.
Barks, a junior from Mustang, Okla., turned in a 2-for-4 night with two RBIs and a run scored, while Halter, a senior from Overland Park, Kan., added a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and an RBI. Anthon, a senior from Dublin, Calif., went 2-for-3, and Crispin, a senior from Lookeba, Okla., was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
The Stars meet Panhandle State in a noon doubleheader Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
