OCU flattens Central Christian 16-1

Stars collect 55 runs, 53 hits and 16 homers in three-game set

McPHERSON, Kan. – Oklahoma City University walloped Central Christian (Kan.) 16-1 on Saturday at the Light Capital Diamond.
OCU finished its baseball series sweep of Central Christian with 55 runs. The Stars went to 19-11, 10-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Noah Barks, Cross Factor, Bryson Lierle and Dalton Reed crushed home runs for Oklahoma City. The Stars accumulated 53 hits and 17 homers over the weekend set.
Barks had an RBI single to put OCU ahead 8-0 in the first inning. Barks touched off the scoring by nailing a run-scoring double to left-center field, then Lierle belted a two-run homer to center. John Anthon drove in two runs on a base hit, and Gunner Halter chipped in a two-run single.
The Stars built a 12-0 fourth-inning advantage as Barks launched a solo blast over the left-field fence. Reed hammered a two-run homer beyond the left-center field wall.
In the fifth, Barks knocked in a run on a base hit. Factor smashed a two-run shot over right-center field.
Tanner Schoeninger earned the victory for OCU. Schoeninger, a senior right-hander from Fort Collins, Colo., struck out seven while allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk in five innings. Chris Bennefield and Grant Harrison kept Central Christian in check over the last two innings.
The Stars meet Sterling (Kan.) in a 3 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
