Stars take 16-6 loss to Southwestern Christian

Southwestern Christian ends OCU's 11-game winning streak in league play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell to Southwestern Christian 16-6 on Thursday afternoon at Dolese Park.
The Stars saw their winning streak end at seven games and their string in SAC play halted at 11 contests. Oklahoma City went to 26-13, 16-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.
OCU jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead. Dalton Reed knocked in the Stars' first run on a base hit through the middle of the infield. Bryson Lierle pounded a two-run home run beyond the right-field wall. Fredric Walter gave the Stars a four-run advantage with a run-scoring single.
Gunner Halter nailed an RBI double in the fourth. The Stars plated another run on Peyton Crispin's sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Lierle, a senior from Altus, Okla., turned in a 4-for-4 performance, scored twice and drove in two runs. Halter, a senior from Overland Park, Kan., went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Walter, a senior from Montigny, France, notched a 2-for-3 outing with a run scored and an RBI, and Reed went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Cade Stephens, a junior from Blanchard, Okla., was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
The Stars take on Southwestern Christian in a 1 p.m. twin bill Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
