Stars collect sweep of Southwestern Assemblies of God

Second-ranked OCU runs winning streak to 16 games

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took 8-0 and 3-1 wins over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Wednesday night at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Amy Crabaugh and Sarah Fisher hit home runs in the first game, while Lexi Duff and Shelbey Cornelson held Southwestern Assemblies in check the second game for OCU. The Stars, ranked second in NAIA softball, moved to 31-3, 24-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Christie Betker kept her roll going. Betker has worked 50.2 innings and allowed only one earned run for a 0.14 earned run average since March 24. Betker, a senior from Reno, Nev., shut out Southwestern Assemblies of God on three hits and a walk through five innings. Betker (16-0) struck out four.
In the fifth inning, Crabaugh led off by crushing a solo blast over the left-field wall. Fisher pounded a three-run shot beyond the right-field wall to finish the game off.
In the second, Kaitlyn Jones nailed a two-run triple to the right-center field wall. Jones reached home plate on Fisher's bunt along the third-base foul line.
Baileigh Loux knocked in OCU's first run with a base hit through the middle of the infield in the first.  
Fisher, a senior from Vista, Calif., turned in a 2-for-3 performance with four RBIs, and Mallory McCoy, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., went 3-for-3 with a run scored.
Kennedy Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., notched a 2-for-2 outing with two runs scored, while Nicole Robinson, a senior from Rochester, Ill., went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Loux, a senior from Reno, Nev., supplied OCU with a 2-for-3 showing with an RBI.
In the second game, Duff earned the win by blanking Southwestern Assemblies of God over 4.2 innings. Duff, a junior from Lone Grove, Okla., improved to 5-2 while fanning two. Cornelson, a sophomore from Tuttle, Okla., struck out four in 2.1 innings, working the final 1.2 innings to notch her first save for the Stars.
OCU took the lead in the fourth. Robinson drove in the winning run with a single to right-center. Jones had a single to shallow left to plate another run.
The Stars tied the game in the bottom of the first. Jaden Shores brought in OCU's first run of the game with a base hit to right-center.
Crabaugh, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-2, while Robinson was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a run driven in. Jackson added a 2-for-3 performance, and Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Oklahoma City travels to Langston for a 2 p.m. doubleheader Friday in Langston, Okla.
