Stars rout Central Christian 30-5

OCU takes first two games of series with 9-6 win

McPHERSON, Kan. – Oklahoma City University rolled to 30-5 and 9-6 wins over Central Christian (Kan.) on Friday at the Light Capital Diamond.
The Stars plated their most runs since March 18, 2010 in the first game and needed eight innings to finish the sweep. Oklahoma City improved to 18-11, 9-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.
Oklahoma City piled up 30 runs for the first time since a 33-7 romp over Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla. OCU pounded 11 home runs for its most homers since launching an NAIA single-game record 14 homers March 20, 2008 at Northwestern. The Stars pounded out 27 hits for their most since amassing 27 hits against Friends (Kan.) on April 17, 2018 in Wichita, Kan.
OCU reached 20 runs for the second time this season when Gunner Halter nailed an RBI single to center field in the fifth inning. Halter, a senior from Overland Park, Kan., produced a 3-for-6 performance with two homers, three runs scored and eight RBIs.
Cross Factor and Evan Maun each crushed two homers. Factor, a senior from Yukon, Okla., went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three runs driven in, while Maun, a junior from Greencastle, Pa., was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Peyton Crispin topped OCU with four hits, going 4-for-4 with a homer, double, four runs scored and an RBI. John Anthon, Jared Hazeldine, Bryson Lierle and Dalton Reed also homered. Anthon, a senior from Dublin, Calif., went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs.
OCU went up 9-0 with an eight-run inning in the second. Anthon hammered a three-run blast over the right-center field wall, and Factor nailed a two-run homer over the right-center field fence. Noah Barks and Lierle added RBI singles, and Lierle scored on a wild pitch.
In the seventh, Hazeldine touched off a seven-run inning by leading off with a solo shot over the left-field fence. Maun smacked a two-run homer, and Halter belted a grand slam to left.
The Stars finish off the series at noon Saturday in McPherson, Kan.
