OCU rolls to wins over Langston, Texas Wesleyan

Stars extend their winning streak

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University notched a 10-4 win over Langston and a 19-0 victory over Texas Wesleyan on Sunday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, ran their winning streak to 14 games. Oklahoma City improved to 29-3, 22-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Against Texas Wesleyan, OCU scored its second highest number of runs with its second best hit total (19) this season. Amy Crabaugh drove in a career-best four runs, and Nicole Robinson hit her first career home run.
Crabaugh belted a two-run double to right field to give Oklahoma City a 4-0 first-inning lead.
In the third, Crabaugh put the Stars ahead 12-0 by smacking a two-run double to right-center. Jaden Shores also drove in a run on a base hit to left, and Kelsie Delap drew a walk with the bases loaded in the third.
Robinson led off the second by pounding a high fly ball over the right-field wall. Lexi Duff nailed an RBI double to left-center as part of the Stars' five-run second inning.
In the fourth, Baileigh Loux bashed a two-run double deep to left-center field. Shores followed with an RBI double, and Mallory McCoy knocked in two runs with a base hit off the left-center field wall.
Loux, a senior from Reno, Nev., put together a 3-for-3 performance with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Crabaugh, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs. Kaitlyn Jones, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., scored four times while going 2-for-2, while Kennedy Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., was 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
Robinson, a senior from Rochester, Ill., went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Shores, a senior from Blanchard, Okla., went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three runs driven in.
Duff posted her first career complete-game shutout for OCU. Duff, a junior from Lone Grove, Okla., struck out five in five innings while allowing two hits. Duff (4-2) retired the first 10 batters she faced.
Against Langston, the Stars erupted for seven runs in the first inning. Shores hammered a three-run homer beyond the left-field wall to put OCU ahead 4-0. Crabaugh doubled deep to right-center, and Jackson walked with the bases full.
In the sixth, Duff nailed a two-run base hit to left-center. Crabaugh added an RBI double.
Jones posted a 3-for-4 outing with two runs scored and an RBI, and Crabaugh went 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBIs and a run scored. Shores was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Shelbey Cornelson picked up the victory. Cornelson, a sophomore from Tuttle, Okla., struck out eight while moving to 9-1 this year.
OCU is set to visit Langston for a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday in Langston, Okla.
